Major milestone for The Dome as opening is announced

The Dome Youth Zone has announced an autumn opening for the multi-million pound facility in Crewe town centre.

The £14m landmark, on the site of the former Oak Street car-park, will bring a wealth of opportunity to young people from Crewe and surrounds.

Officials are due to receive keys in the next few days.

Stuart Manifould, CEO, said: “Receiving the keys is an incredibly proud moment and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Crewe.

“This building represents far more than bricks and mortar.

“It represents opportunity, belonging and a community coming together to invest in its young people.

“From November, thousands of young people will have access to incredible facilities, trusted youth workers, more than 20 activities every session and a hot nutritious meal through an affordable £3 monthly subscription.

“We’re enormously grateful to Caddick and every organisation that has helped bring this vision to life.

“As we move towards opening, we’re inviting more businesses to become part of this story by joining our growing family of Founder Patrons and helping create life-changing opportunities for generations to come.”

This means The Dome Youth Zone has reached practical completion as Caddick hands over the keys.

The purpose-built youth zone will now enter fit-out phase ahead of opening in November 2026.

The facility will provide thousands of young people aged 8–19, and up to 25 for those with SEND, with access to exceptional youth work in a safe, welcoming environment.

Members will be able to choose from more than 20 activities every session, ranging from sports, music and the arts to employability, mentoring and wellbeing support.

The £3 monthly subscription includes a hot nutritious meal every time they attend.

The affordable membership model has been designed to ensure cost is never a barrier to young people accessing life-changing opportunities, with financial support available for families who need it.

The project has been delivered in partnership with Cheshire East Council and Crewe Town Board, with capital funding secured through the UK Government’s Youth Investment Fund, Cheshire East Council, Weston Garfield Foundation and The Anne Duchess of Westminster Fund.

The Dome forms part of the national OnSide network of Youth Zones, which operates 20 Youth Zones across England and supports more than 60,000 young people every year.
