There was a great turn out for the Alpha Omega WPS Foundation ‘Orange the World’ walk in Crewe – a powerful community event raising awareness about ending violence against women and girls.

Participants wore orange—the official colour chosen by UN Women to symbolise a brighter future free from violence—and walked together in solidarity from Queens Park to Crewe Market Hall.

WPS founder Amaka Lawton said: “Organised by the Alpha Omega WPS Foundation, the event was part of the global Orange the World campaign which highlights the urgent need to eliminate gender-based violence.

“Orange was chosen as the theme colour because it represents hope and a brighter future without violence.

“The walk encouraged participants to bring friends, family and their voices to stand against abuse and show solidarity with survivors. It served as both a public awareness campaign and a community-building activity, reinforcing the foundation’s mission to empower women and protect vulnerable groups. We were delighted at the turn-out.”

The Alpha Omega WPS Foundation continues to run initiatives such as mentorship, refugee support, self-defence classes, and outreach programmes, ensuring that the message of safety and empowerment extends beyond this single event.
