Planning consultation for your new Leighton begins next week

A planning application to build one of the UK’s most high-tech and digitally advanced hospitals in Crewe will be submitted to Cheshire East Council this December.

To help inform this application, the Trust will undertake a non-statutory public consultation from Tuesday 14 October 2025 to Wednesday 12 November 2025.

From next Monday 13 October, thousands of households and businesses that are closest to the proposed site will receive a postcard about the consultation, as well as details about a series of in-person engagement sessions.

While letters are being distributed in accordance with planning consultation guidelines, people living in Crewe and mid Cheshire are welcome to attend and provide feedback.

These public engagement sessions will allow people to see the plans in full, and speak directly to the Trust’s Healthier Futures team, which is delivering the new hospital programme.

The consultation period will include a virtual engagement session for those unable to attend the in-person events.

Full details about the plans, along with dates and times of the engagement sessions will be published

on the Healthier Futures microsite on Tuesday 14 October.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust aims to build the new Leighton on land to the north of the existing site.

Officials say the development of the new hospital is essential as the structural life of the current Leighton Hospital is coming to an end.
