Crewe Lyceum Theatre has a BIG hit on its hands with this year’s panto, Jack and the Beanstalk

Lifestyle & Leisure

Clever, creative and crammed full of jokes for old and young, there are stand out performances by Lyceum regulars Ste Johnson as Jack’s hapless brother Simon and of course the marvellous Malcolm Lord back at the historic theatre for a ninth year, this time as Dame Trot.

Brookside celebrity Jennifer Ellison as Poison Ivy is the baddie whose glamour bewitches Jack into handing over the Trot family’s beloved Buttercup the cow for a bag of ‘worthless’ beans. She sends up her Liverpool roots, delivering some top one-liners in ‘scouse’ and is brilliant throughout.

Packed with festive frivolity, brilliantly-timed slapstick, and plenty of cheeky audience interaction, the show keeps children giggling and adults entertained with ‘grown up’ jokes and local references.

The colourful sets and eye-catching costumes add to the magic, transporting the audience from Jack’s humble beginnings to the dizzying heights of the Beanstalk – a prop students at Crewe Engineering & Design UTC had a hand in.

Great to see people of all ages enjoying the show – families, couples and groups of friends. Saturday night was buzzing, as was the Crewe Market Hall. And visitors are sure to be impressed by Crewe’s dazzling Christmas lights.

Jack and the Beanstalk is a joyful, laugh-out-loud treat – suitable for all the family. Don’t miss it!

It runs to January 4
