Representatives from around 200 local and regional businesses attended a new hospital Meet the Supplier event at The Mornflake Stadium in Crewe.

The successful event highlighted the strong interest in the opportunities associated with the development of the new Leighton Hospital.

As one of the most significant public investments in Mid Cheshire for a generation, the new hospital represents an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with businesses across the region.

The session, which was hosted by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, provided valuable insight into working with Integrated Health Projects (IHP), the joint venture between VINCI Building UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, which has been appointed to build the new hospital.

There were also details covering social value, sustainability, supplier readiness, skills and training, and funding opportunities.

Russ Favager, the Trust’s Board Senior Responsible Officer for the new Leighton programme, said: “The new hospital is so much more than just a building.

“This is an opportunity for economic development and to leave a social legacy for people of mid Cheshire.”

The Trust is committed to ensuring businesses are informed, engaged and prepared to explore opportunities connected to this transformational investment in healthcare and the wider economy.

The event, which was held on Tuesday 29 September 2026, was not part of a procurement or tender process.

Further events will be hosted in the future. Details for which will be announced in advance.
