Crewe gets colourful as town prepares for its first street art festival
Lifestyle & Leisure

Acclaimed street artists will transform Crewe town centre with spectacular murals, live painting and a free weekend celebration of urban creativity.
Crewe is about to get a whole lot more colourful as CreweColours, the town’s first street art festival, arrives during October half-term, from 26 October to 1 November 2026.
Organised by CreweCreates CIC with support from Crewe Town Council, the festival will bring an exciting line-up of professional street artists to the town centre, creating large-scale murals that will transform familiar spaces into vibrant public artworks.
Throughout the week, visitors will be able to watch artists at work as walls across central Crewe become giant canvases, with artworks taking shape in locations including Lyceum Square, Heath Street and the Victoria Centre area.
The line-up includes Curtis Hylton, Liam Bononi, Philth, TeaOne, Hammo and Doppel, bringing a diverse range of artistic styles and approaches to the town.
The celebrations culminate in a free Paint Jam Weekend on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, when Lyceum Square becomes a hub of creativity, with live street art, hip hop and DJ music creating a festival atmosphere in the heart of Crewe.
But CreweColours is about more than a single week of activity.
The murals will remain as a permanent creative legacy, establishing the foundations of a new street art trail and giving residents and visitors another reason to explore the town centre.
Jamie Chalmers, Director of CreweCreates CIC, said: “Crewe has a huge amount of creative potential, and CreweColours is about making that creativity impossible to miss.
“We’re bringing brilliant artists into the heart of town, giving people the chance to watch incredible artworks come to life and creating something that everyone can enjoy, completely free.
“What’s particularly exciting is that when the festival finishes, the art stays. We’re creating something lasting that will bring colour, character and a real sense of pride to Crewe.
“We want people to discover parts of the town they might normally walk past, support local businesses and see Crewe in a completely different light.”
Taking inspiration from successful street art initiatives in other towns, CreweColours aims to demonstrate how ambitious public art can revitalise urban spaces, attract visitors and create a stronger sense of place.
The festival is being delivered by CreweCreates CIC, the community arts organisation behind PLATFORM Gallery as part of its wider mission to make creativity a visible and accessible part of everyday life in Crewe.
CreweCreates is funded by Arts Council England, Cheshire East Council and Crewe Town Council
CreweColours takes place from 26 October to 1 November 2026, with the free Paint Jam Weekend running from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November in Lyceum Square, Heath Street, Crewe.
