Applications open for Crewe Town Council’s Mayor’s Cadet 2026/27

Crewe Town Council is inviting applications for the prestigious role of Mayor’s Cadet for 2026-27.

The Mayor’s Cadet role is a new opportunity for a young person aged 15 to 18 from a recognised uniformed youth organisation to support the Mayor at civic engagements and play an active part in the civic life of the town.

The successful applicant will serve a one-year term from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, accompanying the Mayor at a range of civic and ceremonial events throughout the year. These may include Mayor Making, the Civic Service, Remembrance Sunday, Wreath Laying Ceremonies and other community events across the borough and beyond.

As an ambassador for their organisation, the Mayor’s Cadet will gain valuable experience, develop confidence and leadership skills, and gain a greater understanding of local government and community life.

Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Stuart Mackay, said: “The Mayor’s Cadet is a new and exciting role within the civic life of our town. It offers a

young person the chance to represent their organisation, support the Mayor at community events and gain experiences that will help them develop confidence and leadership skills.

“I look forward to reviewing this year’s applications and seeing the enthusiasm, commitment and talent that our young people have to offer. I am proud to launch this new initiative and excited to see the positive contribution our first Mayor’s Cadet will make to the community.”

Applicants must be members of a recognised uniformed youth organisation and be aged between 15 and 18 on 1 October 2026.

The successful candidate will be formally appointed at the Full Council Meeting on 29 September 2026.

The closing date for applications is  noon, Friday 4 September 2026.
